Bismarck, ND     |    North Dakota’s Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS) program, which provides data to support schools, research and evaluation of education and training programs, has added new features on the Insights.nd.gov website.

These analysis and drill-down capabilities support a data-driven approach to education outcomes, policy and the 21st century workforce pillar of Gov. Burgum’s Main Street Initiative, emphasizing a skilled workforce; smart, efficient infrastructure and healthy, vibrant communities to help the state’s economy continue to recover from economic impacts of COVID-19.

The newest features include:

  • A post-secondary employment outcomes interactive dashboard;
  • Updates to ND universities and colleges including degrees and programs offered;
  • Job openings by occupation;
  • A job openings interactive data visualization report.

“We are continuously improving our technology to be able to serve our education customers while they work to Empower People, Improve Lives and Inspire Success,” said Chief Information Office Shawn Riley. “Integrating data with dashboards and data visualization tools to help identify educational and career opportunities across the state is a valuable way for teachers, students, educators, the workforce, and employers to make informed decisions.”

Developing a stronger connection between education and industry, ensuring earlier career exposure for students and aligning skills and credentials with employers’ needs were also recommendations in a 2018 Workforce Development Council report. Tools like Insights.nd.gov help support those goals by providing valuable information and data insights for multiple stakeholders.
