What is it? 

Visual design elements such as colors and typography are powerful tools to reinforce hierarchy and guide users on your website or web application.

NDIT can help you review your website or web application and offer suggestions for ways to improve the visual design:

  • Mock up and wire frames
  • Interface inventory
  • Mobile friendly design
  • Page design-look and feel

How do you request service? 

If your agency is interested in requesting this service either as part of a State Web Platform onboarding project or after, please use the NDIT’s Self Service Portal to submit a generic request with “Visual Design Consulting” in the description and any other details you wish to include.

Once approved by your agency, you’ll be contacted by a member of the User Experience Design Team to verify and provide an estimate and statement of work before proceeding with the consultation.

Billing: 

Since these are project-based engagements, each will consist of a calculated statement of work, at rate of $131.50 per hour.

Web/Application Design Prototyping

What is it? 

It is important for users of your website and web applications to complete tasks efficiently and confidently.

What do you get with the service? 

NDIT can help you explore design solutions that meet your users’ needs with the following prototyping services:

  • User flow – A user flow diagram outlines the steps that a user has to take with your product in order to meet a goal. This diagram helps identify places to improve efficiency in your product.
  • Wireframes – Wireframes are used to map out how key content of your product might be laid out or how key interactions might work.
  • Static visual mockups – Static visual mockups show the final look and feel of your product.
  • Interactive prototypes – Interactive prototypes allow you to click through and experience actual interactions or your product. It is the closest representation of your final product before the development phase.

Design prototyping may be helpful if:

  • Your agency has received feedback that users have difficulty completing tasks on your website or web application, and your agency needs help identifying alternative ways to structure the user flow.
  • Your agency wants the user interface to have a more modern, on-brand, and mobile-friendly look and feel.
